We are happy to announce that we will be performing the Prana Prathista ceremony of our new idols Sri Ganesha(Ganapathy), Sri Veera Aanjaneya (Hanumanji), and Sri Anagha Devi during Nava Raatri celebrations,

Prana Prathista program rituals start September 24th. All are Welcome to attend.

During the Nava Ratri the temple will be open daily from 10am. Devotees wishing to sit in the puja/havan or other rituals, please contact us by phone or email at the earliest.

August – Upcoming events

August – Most of the month of August will overlap with the Shravan/Sravan month as per Hindu calendar.

Sravan is the 5th month in the traditional calendar. Sravan Maas is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi .  Vara Lakshmi varat is observed on Fridays during this month.

In addition to the Varalakskmi vrat, devotees also participate in Mangala Gouri Vrat, and  Sravan shukruvar Lakshmi puja.

In August we will also be celebrating Rakhi poornima, Sri Krishna Janmastami and Ganesh Chathurthi and the Birday of SriPara SriVallabha (the 2nd incarnation of Lord Guru Dattatreya)

August 8 – Friday – Varalakshmi Vrat

On Friday August 8th, Pandit Vinod Sodyal ji will be conducting the Varalakshmi vrat pooja, after baba’s Dhoop aarti, starting approx at 7:20pm.

Pravachan by Devi Shri Chitralekha –  internationally known speaker on Bhagwatgita – will be in the temple at 7:30pm, She will speak on Lord Krishna.

Guru Poornima – Once a year we pay homage to all the Gurus. We start with the Lineage of the Datta Guru Parampara and celebrate the entire day.

All day program begins at 9am and goes on till 9pm.

 *Kakad aarti at 5am.

July 19-20  (Saturday & Sunday)

” Sa Re Ga…Do Re Me”

A 2- day summer music camp titled     ” Sa Re Ga…Do Re Me…”  held for children, youth and adults interested in Music. The camp will be conducted by Ms. Aarti Shankar, a professional violinist, vocalist and teacher from Bangalore, India.

Camp is intended for all those who are interested to know more about music in general and specifically the concepts of classical carnatic and western music. Students who are currently pursuing music education in the western and Indian styles will benefit by learning about the music structure. There is no prerequisite to attend this camp. The attendees should be atleast 7 years of age and be able focus on the workshop.

The workshop starts at 3:00pm both days and goes on till 6:30pm.

 

July 26 – Saturday

Join us for a wonderful Charity Violin concert by Ms. Aarti Shankar, a professional violinist, vocalist and teacher from Bangalore, India. She will be joined by Calgary’s own Bhai Harjit Singh jee on Tabla. This concert will be at Cardel Theatre from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, Tickets are $10 each.  No ticket sales at venue. please buy your tickets ahead.

All are welcome to attend.

Abhishek of Lord Shiva will be performed starting right after the Dhoop Aarti. Pandit Vinod Sodhyal ji will be performing this prayer. This will start at approx 7:20pm start soon after the Dhoop Aarti.

June 21 – Saturday

Pravachan Series. We will continue the ‘Arsha Dharma’ pravachan by Sri Appaji Panchangam starting at 5:30pm. This talk focuses on the basic principles of spirituality from the Vedantic perspective, particularly as outlined in Srimad Bhagavad Gita. This series has been wonderful, all are encouraged to attend and gain an understanding of the founding texts of our religion.

May 17 – Arsha Dharma Pravachan

Tomorrow, Saturday May 17, at 5:30pm, Sri Appaji Panchangam will continue the talk about ‘Arsha Dharma’ basic principles of spirituality from the Vedantic perspective, particularly as outlined in Srimad Bhagavad Gita. This discourse will help in understanding of the basic principles and outline the general perspective.

This is the 3rd session in this series.

Future discussion/discourse on any Purana or Itihasa will be better understood with this foundation. All are welcome to attend.

May 3 – Sri Shankara Jayanti

We are pleased to inform you that Sri Shankara Jayanthi will be celebrated on Saturday 3 May, which happens to be the actual Jayanthi day of the Jagathguru, which is the Shukla Panchami of VAISHAKA month, starting 9:15 AM at the Shirdi Baba mandir .

We cordially invite you all to join us in honouring the Jagathguru, Sri Adi Shankaracharya and also pay homage to the entire Guru Parampara.
